Only one public senior center in the Richmond area is run by a local government: the City of Richmond’s Linwood Robinson Senior Center in the East End. Henrico, Chesterfield and Hanover counties each list senior services and 50-plus recreation programs, but none of their official pages we loaded names a county-run senior center building. This roundup follows that distinction.
Every pick below comes from an official city or county page we loaded. We list where a facility or program is, not who lives nearby. Being close to a program says nothing about a neighborhood’s residents, and you should not read it that way. Hours, fees and program lists change, so confirm each with the locality before you plan around it.
How we picked, and what we could not find
We started with the official pages for the City of Richmond, Henrico, Chesterfield and Hanover. We kept a place only if a page named a facility or program, with an address, that serves older adults. Then we matched each address to the nearest neighborhood on our site. For three Henrico picks the match is by ZIP code and general nearness, not a measured distance, and we say so below.
Hanover’s Hanover County Services for Seniors page lists services but no senior center address, so we did not include a Hanover neighborhood. If that changes, we will update this post. For a Hanover search, start at our Hanover County hub.
Church Hill: the City’s Linwood Robinson Senior Center
The City of Richmond Linwood Robinson Center page lists the Linwood Robinson Senior Center at 700 North 26th Street, Richmond 23223. The page describes it as the only senior center operated by the City. It sits in the East End, and Church Hill is the closest neighborhood page we have.
Who this is wrong for: anyone who wants a senior center in the western part of the metro. This is the one City-run site, and it is east of downtown. Call the center for current hours and programs, since we are not reproducing them.
Ettrick: a Chesterfield 50-plus recreation program
Chesterfield’s Chesterfield Parks and Recreation Active Lifestyles page covers 50-plus programs hosted at four county recreation centers. One is Mayes-Colbert Ettrick Recreation Center, 20621 Woodpecker Road, Ettrick 23803, in Ettrick. The county lists the program, but the building is a recreation center and not a senior center.
Who this is wrong for: anyone who wants a stand-alone senior center with its own daily schedule. Ettrick is in the southern part of the county, so check the drive from any home to the facility at the hours you would go.
Send us the address and the program you care about. We will measure the drive and the walk before you tour.
Chesterfield courthouse area: county aging services office
The Chesterfield Aging and Disability Resources page gives an address for the Aging and Disability Resources office: 9800 Government Center Parkway, Chesterfield 23832. This is a county office for information and services, not a gathering place, and the page does not call it a senior center. Our nearest page is Chesterfield.
Who this is wrong for: anyone looking for drop-in activities. The Active Lifestyles page also lists Bensley (2900 Drewry’s Bluff Road, 23237), Beulah (6901 Hopkins Road, 23234) and Stonebridge (230 Karl Linn Drive, 23225) recreation centers. We do not yet have community pages for those areas, so start at the Chesterfield County hub.
Short Pump: Deep Run Recreation Center in Henrico
The Henrico Open Access Pass programs page lists Deep Run Recreation Center at 9900 Ridgefield Parkway, Henrico 23233. Henrico’s Henrico Older Adult Services page says the county’s older adult services serve people 60 and older, and the Open Access Pass programs list activities such as Golden Angels, Canasta, Mahjong and Bridge. We matched Deep Run to Short Pump by shared ZIP code, so this match needs a map check.
Who this is wrong for: anyone who wants a dedicated senior center. Henrico’s pages do not list one, and it is a poor fit for anyone who wants an eastern or southern location.
Lakeside: Belmont Recreation Center
The same Open Access Pass page lists Belmont Recreation Center at 1600 Hilliard Road, Henrico 23228. The nearest neighborhood page on our site is Lakeside. That is a ZIP-code and general-nearness match, not a measured distance.
Who this is wrong for: anyone who needs the program location within walking distance of the home. Check the actual address-to-address distance before you rely on this pick.
Highland Springs: Eastern Henrico Recreation Center
The Open Access Pass page also lists Eastern Henrico Recreation Center at 1440 North Laburnum Avenue, Henrico 23223. Highland Springs is the nearest page we have, again by ZIP and general nearness. The City’s Linwood Robinson Center is in the same ZIP code, so one search area can cover two public options.
Who this is wrong for: anyone who wants a western Henrico location. Deep Run and Belmont are the county’s other two listed locations.
What each locality lists, side by side
The City of Richmond lists one senior center, Linwood Robinson, with a street address. Chesterfield lists an aging services office and 50-plus recreation programs at four recreation centers. Henrico lists older adult services for people 60 and older and activities at three recreation centers. Hanover lists senior services without a facility address. Those are four different models, and a buyer who searches for a senior center in a county that does not run one will come away confused.
Age rules also differ. Chesterfield’s program page uses 50 and older, while Henrico’s older adult services page uses 60 and older. Check the minimum age for the specific program, because we did not confirm eligibility for each activity.
Questions to ask the facility before you buy near it
Ask what the current schedule is, whether a program is held at that building every week, and whether there is a fee or a registration step. Ask whether the program meets in the daytime or evening, since that changes your drive. Ask what happens during a holiday week or a closure, and where to find the closure notice.
Ask how far ahead programs fill. A listing on a county page shows the program exists. It does not show that a space is open. Then drive the route once at the time you would go, so you know what the trip looks like in practice.
How to use this list
Pick a program first, then look at the neighborhood. Call or visit the facility, ask for the current schedule, and check driving time at the hours you would go. Then compare homes near the area. Our roundup of neighborhoods near public recreation centers and our post on neighborhoods next to a major park use the same method of grounding picks in official pages.
If you want help matching an address to the nearest facility, our buyer team will do it with you. You can also run numbers on our mortgage calculator or see local lenders on the preferred lenders page.
Frequently asked questions
Does Henrico County have a county-run senior center?
None of the Henrico pages we loaded lists one. Henrico’s Older Adult Services page describes county services for residents 60 and older, and the Open Access Pass page lists programs at three recreation centers.
Does Chesterfield County have a senior center?
Chesterfield’s official pages list an Aging and Disability Resources office and Active Lifestyles programs for adults 50 and older at four recreation centers. They do not list a senior center building.
Which senior center does the City of Richmond run?
The City’s Linwood Robinson Center page lists it at 700 North 26th Street, Richmond 23223, and describes it as the only senior center the City operates.
Is there a Hanover County senior center?
The Hanover Services for Seniors page we loaded lists no senior center address.
Does living near a senior program tell me about the neighborhood?
No. Proximity to a facility says nothing about who lives in an area. We list locations and addresses only.
Are the Henrico neighborhood matches exact?
No. For Short Pump, Lakeside and Highland Springs we matched each facility to the nearest neighborhood page by ZIP code and general nearness, not a measured distance. Check the address before you rely on it.
How current is this list?
It reflects pages we loaded in October 2026. Hours, fees and program lists change, so confirm with the locality.
Tell us which facility matters. We will pull homes nearby and check the drive before you tour.
