Challenger Day, a baseball event for Henrico County Public Schools students with physical and cognitive disabilities, is Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the Tuckahoe Park Baseball Complex, 2400 Little League Drive, according to RVAHub. Trevor Dickerson reported the details in an October 25 article. The event is not open to the public. This post is our own summary, with local context added. More local events are on our Richmond events page.
What RVAHub reported
This is the 12th year of the event. Students in kindergarten through fifth grade from more than 33 Henrico County Public Schools classrooms arrive by bus at staggered times, and hundreds are expected. Tuckahoe Sports, Inc. leads the event with three co-sponsors: the Henrico Education Foundation, Henrico Recreation and Parks, and Tuckahoe Little League. Volunteers from the school system and partner businesses and organizations help run the day.
The schedule includes baseball skills, sportsmanship and team building, field games, sensory stations, crafts, therapy dogs and a picnic lunch. Students with physical disabilities can play on the complex’s adaptive Challenger Field, which was built through a public-private partnership between Henrico County and Tuckahoe Sports, Inc. Darth Vader is scheduled to appear, along with Nutzy and Nutasha of the Richmond Flying Squirrels. For more information, RVAHub lists the Henrico Education Foundation at 804-877-9415.
Why the park matters to people searching nearby
Public facilities such as an adaptive field are part of what a county park offers, and they are worth looking up when you compare areas. The Henrico County website lists Recreation and Parks facilities, and our post on Henrico recreation areas named for neighborhoods shows how to read the county’s own park pages. Our guide to neighborhoods near community tennis and pickleball courts does the same for courts.
If you are looking in the Tuckahoe area
Tuckahoe Park is in Henrico’s Tuckahoe area, and our Tuckahoe community page covers it. Event days at a ballfield bring buses, volunteers and parked cars to the surrounding roads, so if you are touring a home close to a park, visit during a game or event as well as on a quiet day. We have no data on how a park or its events affect home prices, and we are not claiming any effect.
Our Henrico County hub collects our county guides, and our Glen Allen page covers another Henrico area. Ask the county what is planned for any park or parcel next to a home you like, because what may be built nearby is a public-record question.
